Barcelona greeted me with style last week. Between the blue sky when I arrived to the airport to the couch surfing host, who made the best sangria I never ever had. Between all those streets I got lost, from tiny ones with mix of medieval, gothic and oriental style around ‘Basilica de Santa Maria Del Mar’ and Picasso Museum in Las Ramblas District. Between all those different areas of the City : from El Poblenou, old industrial area on the Ouest of Barcelona, where Primavera Festival is happening and hipsters are starting to set up (I bet on it!), to Montjuïc area and Poble Sec District on the east, with the botanical garden, the greek garden and the Montjuïc Castle…There is tons of things to see anyway. Like the impressive Gaudí's naturalist architecture also (and of course!).
This is the same about events and places.
Note that Thursday evenings are ‘Tapas nights’ on Blai Street : 2€ and get 2 tapas and a beer the concept is to give way for a bar to another for cheap.
It was on the Barts club (great mojito over there!) that a DJ played exotic electronic music, this evening, this is thru the dance of people that I realized how much dance culture is beautiful over Spain : they dance like fancy disarticulated people. Love it. I could say, Latino style, or salsa inspired dance also…
Ornitorrincos was the main festival of this week, great concept and surprising venue. You will know a bit more about it in the forthcoming article!
Energetic, idyllic, polychromic.
This is how I felt Barcelona in February.
